Our History

About Us-HistorySally and Forrest Hoglund created The Hoglund Foundation in 1989 as a way to help others and give back to the Dallas and Houston communities. Since its inception, the Foundation has grown dramatically, and has contributed more than $40 million in grants to over 450 agencies, with the main focus being education and family support systems.

The Foundation was honored with the Outstanding Foundation Award in 2005 by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Forrest and Sally were recipients of the Philanthropy Award for Excellence in Community Service from the Dallas Historical Society in 2006 and the Spirit of Generations Award from the Senior Source in 2012. Together and individually, they have received numerous awards in Dallas and Houston for their continued commitment to philanthropy and community leadership.

Sally and Forrest are proud to involve family members in carrying on the philanthropic tradition. Daughters Kelly Compton, Shelly Dee, and Kristy Robinson have been involved with the Foundation since its inception and serve as board members. The sisters actively support their local communities with a wide range of philanthropic endeavors, and also involve their own children in the Foundation’s activities through The Hoglund Foundation’s Junior Board.

“Sally and I consider giving back to our communities an obligation,” said Forrest Hoglund. “Having our children and grandchildren involved in the Foundation’s work is an extra benefit that brings us great joy. We know that our work will continue through the commitment of our family to enrich the lives of others.”
