Frequently Asked Questions

How do we know if we are a good match for The Hoglund Foundation?

An agency may be eligible for funding from The Hoglund Foundation if it promotes education, health, and family support services. Grants should make a positive change and measurable impact in the community. Creative problem-solving ideas are encouraged and grants should favor programs or projects that nurture, recognize, and reward individual and family initiative and responsibility. If you feel you are a good match for The Hoglund Foundation, the first step would be to submit a Letter of Inquiry.

What happens if an organization does not submit all necessary documents in the Letter of Inquiry or Full Grant Proposal?

The Application Guidelines on the website outline what is required for the Letter of Inquiry. All required documents must be attached to the Letter of Inquiry to be considered for review. If a Full Grant Proposal is requested, the Foundation will send the agency a letter describing the additional information required. Please also refer to the Full Grant Proposal section on the website for information needed and a Full Grant Proposal Checklist.

What is the timing for a response to our Letter of Inquiry?

A Letter of Decline or an invitation for a Full Grant Proposal will be sent to the agency within 30 days of receipt of the Letter of Inquiry.

What is your geographic focus?

The Hoglund Foundation funds agencies that bring about positive change in the cities of Dallas and Houston, Texas.

Does a request for a site visit or meeting indicate an organization will get funding?

No, a request for a site visit or meeting generally means we need more information about an organization before we are able to make a decision on funding.

What happens once a Full Grant Proposal is reviewed and approved for funding by the Board?

After review by the Board, an agency will be notified by mail whether its Full Grant Proposal was approved for funding or declined. If approved, an agency will receive a Grant Agreement Letter with details about when and how funding will occur.

When is your next Board meeting?

Our Board of Trustees meets three times a year. Grants will be reviewed at those meetings on or near April 15, August 15, and December 15. Exact dates are posted on the website.
