Our History
Sally and Forrest Hoglund created The Hoglund Foundation in 1989 to give back to their community. Since then, the Foundation’s dramatic growth has allowed it to contributed more than $62 million in grants to over 610 agencies focused on education and family support.
As Sally and Forrest’s family grew, so did the Foundation. Their daughters, and now their grandchildren, chose to join and serve in the Foundation’s service to the community. Daughters Kelly Compton, Shelly Dee, and Kristy Robinson serve as Board members and actively support their local communities with a wide range of philanthropic endeavors. The ten grandchildren, having decided to continue the family’s tradition of philanthropy, now constitute the Foundation’s Junior Board.
Not only has the Foundation been honored with awards, both Sally and Forrest have been recognized multiple times for their steadfast commitment to philanthropy and community leadership.
“Sally and I consider giving back to our communities an obligation,” said Forrest Hoglund. “Having our children and grandchildren involved in the Foundation’s work is an extra benefit that brings us great joy. We know that our work will continue through the commitment of our family to enrich the lives of others.”
The mission of The Hoglund Foundation is to improve the lives of families and at-risk children in the City of Dallas, Texas by partnering with organizations that provide education and family support services.
Our goal is to make a positive and measurable impact in the community. We favor programs that nurture, recognize and reward individual and family initiative and responsibility. Creative problem-solving and collaboration are encouraged.
