Grant Guidelines
Grant Areas
The Hoglund Foundation only provides grants to organizations in the City of Dallas.
Organizations or programs must fall within two areas:
Family Support
- Helping families remain intact whenever possible by supporting family stability
- Supporting the needs of children with an emphasis on child abuse prevention
- Promoting individual and family responsibility and initiative to help break the poverty-assistance cycle
Education
- Delivering systemic improvement through cost-effective, scalable initiatives with data-driven results
- Enhancing the learning process of individuals through classroom and teacher support
Qualifying Organizations or Programs Must
- Focus on the City of Dallas
- Use creative, innovative problem solving
- Focus on areas not adequately served or funded by others in the community
- Be a 501(c)(3) organization with proof of tax-exempt status
- Need funding for specific programs or projects, capital projects, or general operations
- Show sound organizational and financial management
- Are collaborative in nature so that resources are shared and the impact of the grant is multiplied in the community
2025 UPDATE FOR FIRST-TIME GRANT APPLICANTS
If you are applying to The Hoglund Foundation for the first time, please email a one page Letter of Intent to Sandy@hoglundfoundation.org
LOI should include the following:
- Mission statement for the organization
- Contact email for application and phone number
- Purpose of the project/program and amount requested
Application Schedule
We review applications three times a year.

Application Process Guidelines
Completion of Application: Only fully completed applications will be considered.
- Online Only: No mail in applications are allowed. If you experience technical difficulty with the application process, please call 214-987-3605 or email: info@hoglundfoundation.org.
- Proof of Tax Exempt Status: Eligible organizations must provide a copy of its determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service verifying tax exempt status. The letter must specify its 509(a) Section classification. 509(a)(3) agencies will require additional documentation.
- Application Frequency: Organizations may only apply once per year and only after any multi-year grants have been paid in full.
- Site Visit: Organizations will be contacted if a site visit is necessary.
The board carefully considers all applications that meet our guidelines.
